Oysters and lobsters and fish…oh my! The fish market in Panama City, authentically known as Mercado de Mariscos, is on the water near the entrance to Casco Viejo. This is where restaurant owners and locals come for fresh seafood and is one of our favorite things to do in the city!
Your senses will be flooded as you walk through this lively market — your eyes by the colors and varieties of fresh seafood, your nose by the fresh smells of the ocean, your mouth by the tastes that are offered to you, your ears by the hustle and bustle surrounding you
Don’t miss the freshest of ceviche just outside (for only $1 per cup!) or the restaurant upstairs that will cook whatever you buy downstairs or order off their menu!
If you have a kitchen where you’re staying, this is where you’ll want to grab the fixings for an amazing dinner—you’ll pay a fraction of the price that you pay in the U.S, Canada and Europe! But, you’ll need to get there early in the a.m. to get the best stuff.
Parking is convenient in the lot next door. Head over to Casco Viejo for a rooftop cocktail or rum tasting next!
