How our minds process images are certainly a unique experience for each of us. There are, however, some science or sweeping generalizations about how colors affect us. There is even some degree of expected focal concentration and prioritization based on contrast, forms, and movement that makes our eyes seek points of dynamic tension. An artist has the ability to create imagery as a sensory perception to orchestrate the viewer’s gaze. My goal in these painted lights and dancing colors is to use the dimensional perspectives with the movement of the camera while in long shutter exposures to create enticing visual stimuli. The processing of the images itself is an elegant choreography of pushing the saturation, levels, color values and contrasts to their limits. I deliberately manipulate the palette of colors to intensify and alter the overall composition of the picture. The end result is often abstract with some recognizable elements to provide the viewer with some context of understanding.
